The Magnalight EPL-EMG-24-2L-LED Explosion Proof Emergency LED Light Fixture is U.S./Canada U.L. approved Class 1 Division 1/2, Class II Division 1/2, has a T6 temperature rating and is a superior lighting solution for areas where flammable chemical/petrochemical vapors or pulverized dust exist or have the potential to exist.
This 2 foot long, 2 LED tube, explosion proof light fixture is ideal for use in locations requiring powerful yet compact hazardous location lighting that will improve overall illumination levels and light quality while reducing operating costs.
The EPL-EMG-24-2L-LED is equipped with Magnalight’s specially designed LED T-series bulbs which produce 15% more illumination at 8 feet distance as compared to standard T5-HO lamps when measured with an Extech light meter. Our LED-T series bulbs are visibly brighter than standard T5-HOs and have consistently surprised many of our customers with their unexpectedly high light output levels. This 2 LED bulb explosion proof fixture is lighter in weight, has a slimmer profile, and produces more light than traditional explosion proof fluorescent fixtures. The 2 foot long T17 LED tube design bulbs included with this unit are rated at 50,000+ hours of service life, which is nearly twice as long as standard T5-HO bulbs.
With an integrated emergency ballast, this explosion proof LED light will continue to operate for 90 minutes once the main electrical power to the light is severed. Once standard electrical power is restored, the emergency battery pack will be recharged.
This fixture carries a T6 temperature rating and is U.L. approved Class 1 Division 1, Groups C and D, Class 1 Division 2, Group A,B,C and D, and Class II, Division 1 and 2, Groups E, F and G.
The solid state design of the LED lamps give this fixture superior resistance to damage from vibrations and extremes in temperature as well as a lamp service life over twice that of standard T5-HO bulbs. The 15 watt LED lamps produce more illumination than standard T5-HO bulbs, but draw only 1/3rd of the current. The LED bulbs used in this fixture are our new second generation LED T series 15 watt T17 lamps which produce 15% more light than standard T5-HO bulbs when measured from eight feet. This fixture is multi-voltage capable (not multi-tap) and works on the following voltages: 120 Volt 60 HZ, 220 Volt 50 HZ, 240 Volt 60 HZ, 277 Volts 60 HZ. We also make a 12-24V DC version for low voltage applications (-LV suffix). Our EPL-24-2L-LED LED light fixture is U.S. and Canada U.L. approved for use in paint spray booths. Additional mounting options:
Unless otherwise specified, our standard, most popular configuration is the bracket end mounting shown above. We also offer a pendant mount for those needing to suspend the fixture away from the ceiling surface (i.e. suspend from pipe or conduit).
Standard Bracket Mounts: Each bracket is cinched to the bracket mounting peg on each side of the light. The angle of the bracket is set by tightening two cap screws on either side of the bracket. The cap screws act as a set screw. The bracket itself is mounted via a single bolt hole at the top of the bracket. There are two brackets, one on each end of the light. Once the brackets are mounted to a surface (ceiling, floor or wall), the light fixture can be removed from the brackets by loosening the cap screws that hold the bracket to the mounting peg. The pictures shown above illustrate the side brackets. The third picture enlarged below also shows the brackets at the both ends of the light.
Suggested Applications: Paint spray booths, Aircraft maintenance, Oil drilling rigs, Refineries, Solvent and cleaning areas, Gas processing plants, Chemical manufacturing, Waste treatment plants, Gas processing plants.

The color rendering index is a scale devised some time ago to measure how colors may change in appearance when illuminated by a light source as compared to an accepted standard light source with the same color temperature. For example, a color chart with several different colors may be set up and illuminated with an incandescent lamp which is used as a standard reference. Then, the same color chart will be illuminated with a fluorescent lamp and any changes in how each of the colors appear are t [...]
A poorly lit paint booth with weak ventilation will lead to poorly matched colors and lots of finishing work to deal with paint contaminants. So, it’s best to be realistic and have a few solid ideas of what you are looking for in a paint spray booth in order to ensure that your new booth is all asset and no liability. [...]
With hazardous locations, it is rarely easy or practical to remove either oxygen or fuel. This is because it is impossible to operate an oxygen free environment, and the very compounds that are present are the very part of the industrial process. Thus, removing heat, or rather the source of ignition becomes the primary target for practicing prevention. Indeed, when incidents arise, it is often determined that “inadvertent ignition” had taken place. So, it is then important to identify and unders [...]
As of this writing, OSHA has yet to institute a solid set of standards for combustible dusts. Many officials adopt NFPA recommendations into their local fire codes as a result in order to attempt some level of regulatory standards across a broad spectrum. Whether or not any meaningful regulation emerges from OSHA in the near future, it is best that any industry or commercial operation associated with combustible dusts be preemptive and adhere to any local regulations as well as adopt their own m [...]
