RL-10 has 35 Watt Xenon 4300 Kelvin bulb High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulb, 3200 lumens - produces 2700 lux at 25 feet (4 D-cell Maglite produces 280 lux at 25 feet) and reaches 4000 feet. The RL-10 features several important benefits, including a 4000 foot beam, articulating head, focusable beam and interchangeable batteries. This HID flashlight can also operate directly off of a 12 Volt or 24 Volt vehicle system via optional vehicle adapter.
The following photos show the unit's beam output without the IR filter.

This image shows a dark street, illuminated by nothing but distant street lights.

This image shows the same road, this time being illuminated by the RL-10. Notice the white picket fence at the end of the road, approx. 3800' away being illuminated clearly by the RL-10.

In this image, the RL-10 in flood mode (simply twist the lens to adjust from spot to flood) is shown illuminating the dark road.
This particular model comes standard with the IR 850nm covert lens. The IR850 cover is a high quality, covert 850nm infrared blackout lens cover for Acro 990 HID Flashlight and RL-10 HID Flashlight. Infrared lens is made from hardened borosilicate and is coated on both sides. Cut off is 850 nm with 90%+ energy transmission rate to 2300 nm.
The infrared lens prevents visible light from passing through the lens. Night visions goggles, binoculars or cameras are required to view objects at distance once the lens is attached. Built to military specification, this covert infrared lens is applicable to military use and hunting
Infrared lens holder is machined from aircraft grade aluminum and powder coated black. A simple bracket locking system with two thumb screws attaches the cover to the light. Once in place, the cover is secure in any high vibration scenario. To remove the cover, the operator simple gives each thumb screw a full turn and pulls the the cover away from the light.

The application of the infrared lens black out cover does not interfere with the lens focusing ability of the HID light. In fact, the cover enables the operator to more easily manipulate the adjustable focusing ring.
- Beam adjusts from flood to spot by rotating the lens - beam patterns show below
- Heavy-duty cast aluminum head with composite lower housing
- 70 minute run time per battery (2 batteries with come with each flashlight)
- System includes RL-10 light, 2 rechargeable Ni-MH 12V Rechargeable 4.5 AH Ni-MH batteries, AC charger, carrying strap and case
- Charge cord plugs directly into the battery (the light can be in use while spare battery is charging)
- Head pivots from 90 to 180 degrees with the push of a button (no tools needed)
- Dimensions: lens is 5 inches in diameter; when positioned in the 90 degree angle, the unit stands 12 inches high and 8 inches long; when fully extended, the unit is 15.5 inches in length
- Lens focus ring adjusts approximately 1/4 turn for focus adjustment to beam pattern
- Compact ballast incorporated into lamp housing for portable, light weight use
- Dust and water resistant design
- Optional 12V car adapter* for extended run time
- Average current draw @12 VDC:
- Start: 12.2amp, Run: 3.3amp (in under 60 sec.)
- Average recharge time: 4 hours - For those of you looking to use an vehicle inverter to recharge the light - the batteries draw .4 amps, so a 75 watt inverter is required
- Weight: Flashlight with Battery, 6 lbs/2.7kg - battery alone weighs 2.4 lbs
- Complete kit, 13 lbs 3 oz/ 5.98kg
- Easy-to-use slide on/off switch
- Led charging indicator on battery; red indicates charging, green indicates fully charge
- Over 50% less energy consumption compared to conventional lighting
- Professional grade unit for industrial, agricultural, law enforcement, emergency service, fire, search & rescue and marine use

NOTE ABOUT THIS HID FLASHLIGHT: To date, this is brightest, toughest portable HID flashlight we have seen. While this started out as a Chinese made flashlight, the electronics and optics of this model has been completely re-engineered to a higher specification, including the use of a GE bulb, 4300 kelvin gas, Taiwanese ballast, Taiwanese switch, etc. We have looked at 50 watt and 70 watt HID spotlights and flashlights (which use a 35 watt bulb with higher wattage ballast) but there is little comparison. The sheer volume of projected natural colored light, combined with very tough inner and outer construction make this handheld HID flashlight unique.
For those of you familiar with cordless tools, this HID flashlight works just like any cordless drill. The batteries snap in and out of the base easily. One battery can be charging while the other is in use. A separate accessory, the vehicle adapter snaps into the battery socket, enabling users to run the light off of a 12 volt or 24 volt vehicle's power system indefinitely.
NOTE ABOUT BATTERIES: While lithium ion batteries are very popular right now, they do not push power to the light quickly. Ni-MH batteries will cut the startup time of HID lights nearly in half. This HID flashlight will reach full power in just a few seconds, while many others will require 8-10 seconds to reach full power. Lithium ion batteries are light, have no memory and hold their charge over time on the shelf. The Ni-MH batteries in this HID flashlight have similar properties. When Ni-MH batteries are constructed properly, they have no memory and hold their charge over time on the shelf. The Ni-MH batteries in this HID flashlight will discharge completely over a 6 month period of inactivity, where lithium ion batteries will take longer to discharge (9-12 months). Lithium ion batteries are very expensive compared to the Ni-MH batteries, which can often double the final price of the HID flashlight. This HID flashlight uses high quality Ni-MH batteries, with run time, recharge and discharge properties similar to lithium ion batteries. These Ni-MH batteries enable the use of higher quality ballast and optics, while keeping the final price competitive. These Ni-MH batteries also enable the light to start more quickly, but they are approximately 1.5 pounds heavier than a lithium ion battery alternative.
