The Magnalight EPL-TN-70-150 Explosion Proof Metal Halide Light is U.L. approved Class I & II, Division 1 & 2 and is rated for use in wet and marine environments. This ruggedly constructed unit provides operators with excellent power and efficiency coupled with high versatility.
This permanent mount explosion proof metal halide light provides operators with a highly dependable source of powerful light that can be used in a variety of areas and mounted to walls, brackets and any flat surface that will accommodate its adjustable yolk type mount. This unit contains a 70 watt dual ended metal halide lamp (or 150 watt High Pressure Sodium) and is capable of illuminating 13,000 square feet (20,000 sf for 150W HPS) of work space. The 70 watt metal halide lamp produces illumination equivalent to a typical 400 watt halogen bulb while drawing only 70 watts at .58 amps. The metal halide lamp produces more light and runs cooler than a 400 watt halogen, resulting in an easier to handle unit and less heat in the workspace.
This unit's durability, easy mounting, high power and the good color rendering of its metal halide lamp make it ideal for close work and hazardous areas where safety, detail and accuracy are critical. While the metal halide is the best choice for most areas, the 150 watt High Pressure Sodium bulb is ideal for dust and wet area locations, since the HPS light penetrates those airborne particles well.

This lamp can be easily adjusted up or down and locked into position via a side mounted adjustment knob. The lamp housing is waterproof and constructed of thick copper free aluminum alloy, making it ideal for use in wet and marine environments. The metal halide (or high pressure sodium) lamp provides 13,000 square feet (20,000 sf with 150W HPS) of coverage with good color rendering and object contrast.
The EPL-TN-70MH lamp assembly includes a 70 watt metal halide bulb (or 150W High Pressure Sodium), internal ballast and aluminum finish reflector in a copper-free cast aluminum housing with a thermoset powder coat finish. The shell, covers and sealed fittings are also made of copper-free aluminum. The lens is constructed of thermal shock and impact resistant tempered glass and the housing contains threaded joints lubricated with non-drying lubricant. The metal halide lamp in this unit has no filament and is thus highly resistant to damage from shocks or impacts, greatly reducing the chances of damage should the be dropped or hit, unlike incandescent lamps which may break or shatter.
The lamp is rated at 25,000+ hours of life providing longer service life than typical halogen lamps. The lamp operates with 120 VAC and is connect via an included sealed wire access with 3 foot pigtail.
Suggested Applications: include but are not limited to wastewater treatment plants, refinery tanks, oil and gasoline loading docks, coal pulverizing facilities, munitions storage areas, tunnel projects, utility gas plants, power plant areas, hazardous areas and mining conveyor belts.

Hazardous location lighting equipment is in the simplest explanation used in places where concentrations of volatile gases, flammable dust or particulates, or flammable chemicals are high enough to present a danger of ignition that can lead to explosion or fire. [...]
Confined spaces represent some of the most dangerous work places in commercial industries. Because of their enclosed nature confined spaces are poorly ventilated and allow volatile gases, fumes, vapors, and particulates to accumulate and increase in atmospheric density to potentially explosive levels. Confined spaces represent a hazardous work area and are loosely defined by a few general characteristics. [...]
