The Magnalight HALP-24-2L-LED Hazardous Area LED Light Fixture is U.S. / Canada U.L. approved Class 1 Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D - UL 1598A listed, has a T4A temperature rating and ideal for open air hazardous locations where flammable chemical/petrochemical vapors may be occassionally encountered.
The HALP-24-2L-LED fixture is a 2 foot long, 2 lamp, UL listed Class 1 Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D hazardous area LED light and a good choice for use in applications where space is at a premium. This fixture is T4A temperature rated and comes standard with our high power and efficiency 15 watt LED lamps. This weatherproof fixture is constructed of non-corrosive materials including a polyester housing reinforced with glass fiber, a poured in gasket for reliable sealing and an impact resistant acrylic diffuser. Corrosion resistant stainless steel latches secure the lamp cover to the housing and provide a firm lock against the poured in seal to prevent drips and water intrusion.
This fixture is UL 844 rated Class 1 Division II, Groups A, B, C, D approved and also carries a UL 1598A outdoor marine rating and meets US Coast Guard specifications. This fixture ideal for hazardous areas where corrosion resistance is mandatory and space limitations require a compact lighting solution.

We have eliminated the ballast normally associated with fluorescent fixtures, which reduces overall weight, and helps this LED fixture maintain a T4A temperature rating. The solid state design of the LED lamps give this fixture superior resistance to damage from vibrations and extremes in temperature as well as a lamp service life over twice that of standard T5-bulbs. The 15 watt LED lamps produce more illumination than standard T5-HO bulbs, but draw only 1/3rd of the current. The LED bulbs used in this fixture are our LED T series 15 watt T17 lamps which produce 15% more light than standard T5-HO bulbs when measured from eight feet. This fixture is multi-voltage capable (not multi-tap) and works on the following voltages: 120 Volt 60 HZ, 220 Volt 50 HZ, 240 Volt 60 HZ, 277 Volts 60 HZ. We also make a 12-24V DC version for low voltage applications (-LV suffix).
Standard Flange Brackets: Standard Flange Brackets: Flange type stainless steel mounts attached at each end of the fixture enables it to be simply secured to any surface. The mounts provide some shock absorbency protection while enabling the user to simply mount the fixture with the through-hole taps that protrude on each side of the fixture. The mounting holes are 36 9/16 inches on center apart along the top of this hazardous location light. The mounting holes are 7 inches on center across the top of the light.
Suggested Applications: The HALP-24-2L-LED is designed for marine wet and damp locations, where corrosion resistant lights are required. This includes petrochemical facilities, lubrication pits, oil drilling rigs, crew quarters, solvent/cleaning areas, water treatment areas, processing plants and marine loading docks.

NEMA ratings are guidelines published by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association intended to provide a homogenous system of rating electrical enclosures according to their various design parameters. NEMA ratings encompass a wide area of subjects such as protection against contact with internal parts, resistance to internal contamination from fluids, resistance to icing and external damage, and the enclosures suitability for use in various environments. North America is presently not operating with the IECex/ATEX schemes although some effort has been made to produce some homogenity between North American and European Standards, most notably the US and Canada's adoption of a Zone system (NEC 505) modeled after European Schemes. However, despite the great similarity between North American and European Zone systems, they are not identical and are not interchangeable.

With hazardous locations, it is rarely easy or practical to remove either oxygen or fuel. This is because it is impossible to operate an oxygen free environment, and the very compounds that are present are the very part of the industrial process. Thus, removing heat, or rather the source of ignition becomes the primary target for practicing prevention. Indeed, when incidents arise, it is often determined that “inadvertent ignition” had taken place. So, it is then important to identify and unders [...]
As of this writing, OSHA has yet to institute a solid set of standards for combustible dusts. Many officials adopt NFPA recommendations into their local fire codes as a result in order to attempt some level of regulatory standards across a broad spectrum. Whether or not any meaningful regulation emerges from OSHA in the near future, it is best that any industry or commercial operation associated with combustible dusts be preemptive and adhere to any local regulations as well as adopt their own m [...]
When most of us think of night vision devices we usually picture the elaborate electronic headgear or special cameras used by military personnel. We usually assume the technology is complicated and the price exorbitant and so we also assume that attractive as being able to see in the dark may be, its beyond the realm of us mere mortals. [...]
