The LED-SL-20 LED spreader light from Magnalight contains 20 LEDs and produces 2,880 lumens of bright white light in a wide flood pattern while drawing only 32 watts @2.7 amps on a 12 volt electrical system. This compact and, fully sealed LED spreader light can be operated on 12 or 24 VDC and is ideal for use in marine environments as deck lighting, cockpit or cabin lighting and anywhere a high quality, bright light is desired.
This LED spreader light is designed for marine use and an ideal alternative to, or upgrade from the common 200-300 watt halogen lamps used on boats and yachts to illuminate bridges, cockpits, cabins and decks. These LED spreader lights produce 2,880 lumens of high quality light and draw only 2.7 amps when connected to a 12 volt electrical system, resulting in up to 70% lower power consumption when compared to the halogen lamps they are designed to replace. The light produced by this unit is very evenly distributed in a wide flood pattern and much purer and clean without the yellowish tint often associated with halogen or incandescent lamps. This LED light is completely sealed making it IP67 compliant and waterproof.

This unit’s housing is constructed of marine grade aluminum with a brushed finish for high durability and fully sealed against intrusion from water or dust making it IP67 compliant. Measuring only 7.3 inches long by 2.3 inches wide, this very compact LED spreader light fixture is designed for stud mounting with a single 1/4-20 stud mount on a pivoting bracket for easy installation. The pivoting bracket allows adjustment of the fixture to any angle and a simple nylock secures the angle of the light once positioned. Connection to power is via two simple power leads and the unit can be operated on either 12 or 24 VDC without any modifications necessary. The LEDs and sealed construction of this unit provide 50,000+ hours of LED operation with minimal maintenance or upkeep requirements.
3 year warranty replacement on this LED light. After 30 days, the customer ships the failed LED light and/or LED bulb to Larson Electronics’ Magnalight at their expense. Because of their solid state design, low power requirement, high efficiency and durable construction, LEDs offer a wide range of improvements over traditional light sources. Able to produce light in specific wavelengths, containing no gases, filaments or glass, and much smaller than traditional light sources, LEDs are a radically different way to produce light and as such, have much different properties than the traditional light bulb. We hear a lot today about how great LEDs are. They use very little energy, theyre the lighting of the future, theyll make the incandescent light bulb obsolete, and every one of these claims is in fact true. However, we dont hear nearly as much about the other everyday ways that LEDs can benefit us, and considering that these benefits are quite considerable, this is something of a shame. [...]
Though the prime allure of LEDs remains their efficiency, it is also very important that light quality, durability and effective coverage also be taken into account. It is these factors that once made LEDs somewhat tricky to use for general illumination purposes, but as will be seen, not so now with modern LEDs designs. [...]
When most of us think of night vision devices we usually picture the elaborate electronic headgear or special cameras used by military personnel. We usually assume the technology is complicated and the price exorbitant and so we also assume that attractive as being able to see in the dark may be, its beyond the realm of us mere mortals. [...]
While much of the focus on Marine lighting has lately been on the reduced energy usage benefits switching to LEDs from Halogens represents, there is more to the story than just prolonging the charge time of your crafts batteries. If you search the internet or read the magazines dedicated to boating, youre likely to see all sorts of stories touting the great reductions in electrical drain on a boats energy reserves that LEDs produce and little else. [...]
With the current trends in energy efficiency and conservation presenting a persistent and important presence on the world stage, it is only natural that energy efficient forms of lighting technology continue to receive increasing scrutiny. With over 60 billion dollars per year spent in the U.S. alone on energy for lighting, it is clear that there is great opportunity for increased efficiency and savings. [...]
If you need any evidence of the growing popularity of LEDs in the marine industry, you only need look to the catalogues and websites of most marine lighting specialists to find your proof. Of course, if youre the critical sort and require a little more than popularity to sell you on giving new technology a try, LEDs have plenty to back up the reasons for their popularity. [...]
The marine industry is one of the first and largest commercial sectors to capitalize on the revolution in electrical illumination that LED lighting technology represents. Since electrical lighting was first introduced into boating applications, designers in the boating industry have grappled with the need to provide adequate power for electrical systems while maintaining a practical rate of energy consumption on board a ship. [...]
Ever since electrical equipment was first installed on a boat, managing onboard electrical power has been a major concern on everything from small sailboats to large yachts. Although electrical lighting was a major leap forward for marine lighting which at the time consisted of actual lanterns that housed a flame, it immediately created the problem of producing enough electricity to make its use practical. Cruising at night is probably one of the more enjoyable aspects of pleasure boating. The water has calmed, and the heat has gone, making the cool breezes that blow across the water as enjoyable as they can be. Despite how relaxing a boating trip on the water can become at night however, darkness brings new concerns for a skipper to keep in mind. With the pleasure of night cruising also comes increased hazards, [...]
