The two 400W-MH metal halide
fixtures on this unit are weatherproof and suitable for use in outdoor marine
applications, making this light cart an ideal lighting solution for industrial
applications, shipyards, commercial maufacturing and outdoor work areas. The
lamp housings are weatherproof and constructed of die cast aluminum featuring a
hinged, removable front-access door with two captive closure screws for easy
servicing. The optical assemblies include a precision-formed aluminum reflector
and heat/impact-resistant tempered flat door glass. The aluminum reflector has a
chemically bonded, lightweight, non-breakable ALGLAS® finish on both the inside
and outside surfaces providing corrosion resistance, durability and ease of
cleaning. The optical assemblies contain a mogul base socket capable of handling
the higher pulse ratings of newer HID systems.

The cart and tower assembly is
constructed of aluminum with stainless steel fasteners and has two solid
anti-static rubber wheels, allowing this unit to be easily relocated around the
work area as needed. The cart and lamp assembly are two pieces and designed to
be easily disassembled without tools. The lamp fixtures are attached to the
mounting bar with adjustable trunnion brackets, allowing the lamps to be
adjusted vertically and horizontally through a full range of positions. Included
with this unit is 50 feet of SOOW cord ending in an ECP1523 explosion proof
straight blade plug. The multi-tap ballast in these fixtures enables the lights
to be configured from 110V to 277V with jumpers.
This cart mounted work light is
suitable for use in areas where flammable petrochemical vapors are sometimes
present in a non-confined, open air work space and IS NOT
suitable for use in confined spaces. The multi-purpose, portable design
of this light tower makes it a popular choice for industrial applications
regardless of whether the locations are designated hazardous or not.

Hazardous location lighting equipment is in the simplest explanation used in places where concentrations of volatile gases, flammable dust or particulates, or flammable chemicals are high enough to present a danger of ignition that can lead to explosion or fire. [...]
Deciding on the proper lighting for a particular work location can result in some unexpected confusion. Although many people understand that the presence of flammable or volatile materials and gases present a hazard, they do not understand the nature of equipment that must be used in such locations. [...]
Of the several trends in construction taking place today, increasing the efficiency and safety of projects are usually the chief driving factors behind them. With the current shifting of operations such as road work towards nighttime hours occurring more and more frequently as companies and municipalities seek to lessen the impact these operations have on traffic flow and nearby businesses, lighting has become an increasingly important concern. [...]
Confined spaces represent some of the most dangerous work places in commercial industries. Because of their enclosed nature confined spaces are poorly ventilated and allow volatile gases, fumes, vapors, and particulates to accumulate and increase in atmospheric density to potentially explosive levels. Confined spaces represent a hazardous work area and are loosely defined by a few general characteristics. [...]
