Larson Electronics manufactures the
Magnalight 12 volt spotlights with magnetic base and 12 volt searchlights with magnetic base with magnetic bases and 16 foot cords in Dallas, TX. These
industrial grade 12 volt spotlights
have been a staple of the cable, telephone and electric utility industry since

The Magnalight HIDH-3550 Dual Mode Portable HID flashlight provides high output, high and low power operation, and full waterproof protection to 50 meters. This compact high intensity discharge flashlight produces a 7,000 foot long beam in high mode and a 5,000 foot beam in low mode making it one of the most powerful compact flashlights available. This handheld light runs for up to 110 minutes on a full charge and is constructed of aerospace grade aluminum for extreme durability.
The HIDH-3550 dual mode portable HID flashlight features a housing contructed of machined aerospace aluminum alloy and the ability to operate in high 50 watt mode and low 35 watt mode for full power or energy saving operation. This compact HID light produces 3500 lumens at 35 watts in low mode, producing a beam reaching over 5,000 feet in length. In high mode this light produces 4700 lumens at 50 watts and a light beam reaching over 7,000 feet in length. Operators can choose between low mode for battery conservation and a run time of 110 minutes, or high mode for full ppower output and run time of 70 minutes.
This portable HID light is designed for rugged use with a housing constructed of machined aerospace grade aluminum alloy and a reflector that is also machined from aluminum. The reflector and lamp head is machined from one piece aluminum, and the reflector is then coated for maximum output efficiency. Unlike typical flashlights which have a separate lamp head and reflector assembly, this one piece design will not warp, come loose, and retains its reflective properties for a lifetime of operation. The result is an extremely durable light that can withstand abuse that would cause a lesser light to malfunction or fail. This light is IP68 waterproof to a depth of at least 100 meters, making it fully sealed against dust dirt and water intrusion and ideal for use as a dedicated dive light.

Operation of this light is through a magnetic twist switch. If the switch is rotated counter clock-wise from it's original position, the low 3200 lumen mode will activate. In turn, when the switch is rotated clockwise, the high, 4700 lumen beam is activated. Rotating the switch the opposite direction of the mode chosen will initially turn the light off. If rotation is continued, the alternative mode will then be turned on.
An included heavy duty handle makes this light easy to carry, point, and surface place for ideal beam placement. The light can even be hung from a tree branch or pole. The weight balanced housing makes this light easy to carry and helps when positioning the unit for precise beam placement. Larger handheld spotlight type flashlights are typically heavier on whichever end has the battery. This HID flashlight, however, is well balanced, which makes it ideal for portage or mounting.
A 1/4 -20 tripod mounting insert is included in the light for tripod style mounting accessories. More importantly, crew served weapon mounting, or other vehicle mounting applications are manageable as the well balanced HID flashlight doesn’t vibrate unevenly. The included removable hand grip is ideal for mounting the HIDH-3550 on tripods or lanyards and is easily removed for those applications where a standard barrel grip is more to an advantage.
The thick, finned aluminum head housing ensures that the HID flashlight body stays cool to the touch, unlike other high powered HID flashlights where the head runs at skin burning temperatures above 200 degrees F. It's lithium-ion battery is protected by the same aerospace aluminum used to construct the lamp body. The battery is equipped with a protective circuit to control battery charge, ensuring proper charging and protecting against over over/under charge conditions. An easy-to-exchange slow blow fuse is easily accessible in the event of inadvertent shorting of the battery terminals. It's electrical circuits and components are gold plated to insure corrosion and electrolysis never occurs to degrade performance.
This light includes a 110-220 VAC and 12-24 VDC charging system for recharging the light from standard wall outlets or vehicle based electrical power. The charger can be used to power the HID flashlight directly or simply charge the battery. Full charge time for a depleted battery is 180 minutes.
