The Magnalight LEDLB-80X2-VIR LED Light Bar offers two light modes in one unit. This LED emitter can be toggled between visible or infrared light output operation and has a compact profile combined with versatile mounting and power options. This IP67 rated LED light bar is waterproof to one meter and produces 14,400 lumens while drawing only 240 watts of power @20 amps from a 12 volt electrical system. This light can run on any voltage from 9 to 42 VDC and provides a durable and powerful lighting solution that is ideal for use in military and law enforcement applications as well as commercial security, hunting and industrial operations.

The LEDLB-80X2-VIR LED light bar from Magnalight produces a 1750' long by 300' wide light beam with 14,400 lumens of bright light. Sixty Edison Edixeon® Emitters containing CREE EZBright® three watt LEDs producing 180 lumens each are arranged in rows and paired with high purity 10 degree optics to produce a tightly focused spot beam with limited spread or light spillage. We also offer optional floodlight versions with 35 degree optics to produce a wider beam spread and more light over a larger area nearer the fixture, making flood versions ideal for use as work and area lights.
These LED light bars are IP67 rated and waterproof to 1 meter, sealed against intrusion by dust and dirt and ruggedly constructed to withstand demanding environments, conditions and applications. The entire Magnalight LEDLB series are constructed of extruded aluminum and feature low profile compact housings, rubber isolated mounts and unbreakable polycarbonate lenses to provide increased durability against vibrations, impacts, waves, hard rains, sand and high winds.
Two separate power connections are provided, including one that powers the infrared LEDs and one that powers the visible LEDs. Thus, the visible LEDs can be connected to a MRAP or MATV blackout system, enabling the visible light to be turned off when the operator goes into covert mode. 2 rows of 40 LEDs are dedicated to visible lighting, while the other two rows of 40 LEDs are dedicated to infrared lighting. The infrared portion of this LED light can be configured with 750Nm, 850nm or 940nm wavelength IR LEDs. |

Heat Management: Heat is the single largest factor in premature LED failure and color shifting. As a result, many manufacturers reduce the output of their LEDs to reduce the amount of heat produced. These LED light bars utilize an extruded aluminum housing that incorporates an advanced heat radiating fin design which dissipates heat efficiently to produce the maximum amount of power and longevity from the integrated Edison Edixeon® Emitters. The end result is more light and longer LED life with higher average lumen maintenance after 50,000 hours.
Voltage Control: These units are able to monitor and adjust input current to maintain the correct LED voltage levels regardless of input levels across a specific range. These LEDLB series light bars can operate on current ranging from 9 to 42VDC without any modifications necessary as a result. This multi-voltage capability makes these units ideal for mobile and standalone applications such as those found on commercial boats, heavy equipment and vehicles where power systems don’t always operate with 12 volts and external generators, transformers or inverters are impractical.

Durability: The LEDLB series of LED light bars from Magnalight offer IP67 rated construction that is designed to withstand the rigors of demanding of environmental and operating conditions yet are lighter and smaller than our LEDLBE series of extreme duty light bars. The LEDLB series is designed to provide a low profile, light weight, high performance light bar that can be mounted where other lights will not fit. These units can operate in temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius, are waterproof to 1 meter and resist ingress of dust, dirt and humidity. The housings are formed from extruded aluminum and the lenses are unbreakable polycarbonate. The Edixeon® LEDs offer inherent LED resistance to shocks and vibrations contributing to these units 15.6Grms rating of vibration tolerance.
Mounting: Magnalight LEDLB series light bars are equipped standard with aluminum mounting blocks which slide within the aluminum housing to allow users to adjust their positioning to match existing or user drilled mounting holes. Each aluminum mounting block has an integrated rubber bushing to absorb vibrations and shocks. To secure the lights in place users simply slide the mounting bolts through the aluminum mounting block and rubber isolator, through the mounting surface, then secure the bolt with a locking nut on the opposite side of the mounting surface. This mounting system enables mounting to flat or round surfaces and allows for minimal 7 degrees of flexibility of angle placement of the light.
In this LED emitter light bar model, an additional mounting option is provided. The adjustable, shock insulated mounts are attached to a simple, inverted u-bracket type mount. The LED light bar can then be mounted via a single 3/8 bolt through the center of the bracket. We also offer a BC-2 bar clamp mounting system you can view here for even greater mounting versatility.
Note: Most Magnalight LEDLB, LEDP3W, LEDP10W, and LED10W series LED spotlights and floodlights are terminated with a Deutsch IPD / LADD DT04-2P connector. The mating connector plug is DT06-2S. Most LEDLB and LED10W series lights ship with mating connector as part of a harness or pigtail, depending on the model. Some larger LED lights like the LEDLB-160X2 or LEDLB-200X2 or multiple function LED lights (i.e. high/low beam, modulating, IR/Visible combos) will have different Deutsch connectors.

Non Military Infrared Light Applications and Uses
What makes light in specific regions of the infrared end of the spectrum useful is that while it is absorbed or reflected off of objects just like visible light, it is a single narrow band of electromagnetic radiation rather than a blend of several. Normal visible light is a blend of several shorter electromagnetic wavelengths (colors) that is easily reflected by objects. Each wavelength, or color, is absorbed and reflected a little differently than the next according to the physical properties [...] |

Generations of Night Vision and Infrared
Night vision technology has grown to encompass a few distinct types of equipment, each of which has its own strengths and weaknesses. Night vision devices, or NVD’s for short, allow the human eye to see in total or near total darkness through the use two basic methods, light amplification or thermal imaging. These systems are further classed into what are considered passive and active systems, wherein a passive NVD makes use of whatever light is available, and an active system provides [...] |
