The LEDUL4 Underwater LED Light from Magnalight produces 1,080 lumens of light while drawing only 12 watts @950mA on a 12 volt electrical system. This rugged and compact underwater LED light is designed as a powerful and more efficient, more durable and more versatile alternative to traditional 55 watt underwater halogen lights.
The LEDUL4 Underwater LED light is designed to replace traditional 55 watt halogen underwater lights and outperforms them by producing 20% more light while using only 1/4 as many watts of power. This unit contains four LEDs and produces 1,080 lumens of pure white light while drawing only 12 watts at slightly less than one amp from a 12 volt electrical system. Available in blue and white colors, this underwater LED light is submersible to 6 feet and unlike most halogen lamps designed for submersion, will not be damaged by operation out of the water.
The housing on this light is constructed of aluminum hard coated with clear anodize and designed to be surface mounted to the hull while a small 1/2 inch protrusion containing the power wires extends through the hull, allowing the unit to be wired from the other side. This mounting method protects the wires from abrasion and intrusion from water while also greatly reducing the size and or amount of holes that must be drilled in the hull for installation. The wiring connections are made with an included 4 foot wire ending in a female 2 pin Deutsch connector. This underwater LED light can be operated on voltages ranging from 10 to 30 volts DC without any modifications, external drivers or device hardware necessary. USCG certified for use in demanding marine environments, this lamp is ideal as an underwater boat hull light while its ability to operate out of the water without damage gives it the versatility to be used as a dock light, deck light, cabin light or anywhere above the waterline the user deems appropriate.
Mounting: Mounting is accomplished with three through holes and screws for securing the light to the hull. A 1/2 inch base extension in the center of the light containing the wiring connections passes through the hull for secure through surface wiring. In boating applications the operator can drill a 1/2 inch hole in the hull and insert the base mount, passing the base extension through the hull. The wire connections can then be done inside the hull. The wires or points of ingress around the wire are thus not exposed to the water and protected against chafing or damage from rubbing against the edges of the mounting hole. We also carry an alternative underwater LED Boat Light that is submersible to 60 meters you can view here.

Some important considerations to keep in mind are that although an item may be rated as ”IP68”, this does not automatically infer the item can be safely operated at any depth for any period of time without failure. For IP68 ratings, manufacturers choose the specified depth which must be beyond 1 meter at which the enclosure will protect against the ingress of water. Normally, as with industrial lighting equipment or marine lighting intended to be operated for extended periods beyond depths of 1 [...]
We hear a lot today about how great LEDs are. They use very little energy, theyre the lighting of the future, theyll make the incandescent light bulb obsolete, and every one of these claims is in fact true. However, we dont hear nearly as much about the other everyday ways that LEDs can benefit us, and considering that these benefits are quite considerable, this is something of a shame. [...]
When most of us think of night vision devices we usually picture the elaborate electronic headgear or special cameras used by military personnel. We usually assume the technology is complicated and the price exorbitant and so we also assume that attractive as being able to see in the dark may be, its beyond the realm of us mere mortals. [...]
What started out as something of a novelty has quickly grown into a popular and effective addition to almost any boat that is used for spending evening hours out on the open water. Anglers have known for a long time the benefits of using lights to attract game-fish and pleasure boaters have often enjoyed the ambiance and intrigue created by installing underwater lights on the hull of their craft.
