This 7 watt LED drop light is suitable for use in areas where petrochemical vapors and various dusts are present and projects 760 lumens of light, which is twice the lumens per watt output of a 100 watt incandescent bulb. This unit is rated Class 1, Division 1 and comes complete with 100’ of SOOW 16/3 AWG cord ending in a 5-15 straight blade plug.
This hand lamp has a high efficiency LED bulb that requires no ballast, so the operator doesn't need to drag a bulky ballast housing around. This can be particularly annoying when the ballast becomes entangled in the cord. This explosion proof LED hand light operates on standard 110-240 Volts AC Hz for US voltages. The light produced by this unit has a 6000k color temperature, which is much sharper and whiter than the light produced by incandescent lamps. The light produced by this lamp is ideal for close work and inspection activities where good contrast and true color representation is needed. The LED lamp in this unit runs much cooler than incandescent or flourescent lamps, resulting in a lamp housing that remains cool to the touch and eliminates the accidental burns often encountered with incandescent drop lights.

One of the bigger areas of confusion for consumers and commercial applications is the manner in which LED longevity and output are measured. We often see LEDs advertised as having a “50,000 hour lifespan”, but what does this really mean? For most people, the natural assumption would be that after 50,000 hours, the LED can be expected to soon fail to produce light, in essence, burn out much like a traditional incandescent lamp does at the end of its life cycle. However, this is not exactly the ca [...]
Commercial applications most often make use of lamps producing cool white light in the 4000 to 6500 Kelvin range because their light is sharper and more intense, with better color rendering and contrasting properties. Objects illuminated by these lamps appear brighter, more sharply defined, making these lamps well suited for offices, retail stores and commercial areas where detail and sharpness is important.
Lamps with temperatures around 5000-5500 Kelvin are usually considered to produce natu [...]
North America is presently not operating with the IECex/ATEX schemes although some effort has been made to produce some homogenity between North American and European Standards, most notably the US and Canada's adoption of a Zone system (NEC 505) modeled after European Schemes. However, despite the great similarity between North American and European Zone systems, they are not identical and are not interchangeable.

With hazardous locations, it is rarely easy or practical to remove either oxygen or fuel. This is because it is impossible to operate an oxygen free environment, and the very compounds that are present are the very part of the industrial process. Thus, removing heat, or rather the source of ignition becomes the primary target for practicing prevention. Indeed, when incidents arise, it is often determined that “inadvertent ignition” had taken place. So, it is then important to identify and unders [...]
Rechargeable spotlights and flashlights have become an increasingly important part of military operations. As recently as ten years ago military personnel in the field were forced to rely on personal lighting equipment that had very short operational times due to high energy consumption. This required the further addition of up to twenty pounds of batteries to keep them operational during a full mission deployment of ten days. [...]
When most of us think of night vision devices we usually picture the elaborate electronic headgear or special cameras used by military personnel. We usually assume the technology is complicated and the price exorbitant and so we also assume that attractive as being able to see in the dark may be, its beyond the realm of us mere mortals. [...]
Hazardous location lighting equipment is in the simplest explanation used in places where concentrations of volatile gases, flammable dust or particulates, or flammable chemicals are high enough to present a danger of ignition that can lead to explosion or fire. [...]
If youve ever worked underneath a vehicle or had to repair equipment in a confined space, then you have probably at one time or another used a classic trouble light. For the uninitiated, trouble lights are those lights you often see hanging from reels or coiled up in a corner of your local mechanics shop. They are usually nothing more exotic than a long electrical cord, at the end of which is attached a handle with a reflector and bulb on the end. [...]
Confined spaces represent some of the most dangerous work places in commercial industries. Because of their enclosed nature confined spaces are poorly ventilated and allow volatile gases, fumes, vapors, and particulates to accumulate and increase in atmospheric density to potentially explosive levels. Confined spaces represent a hazardous work area and are loosely defined by a few general characteristics. [...]
Marine engine rooms, commercial paint booths, chemical storerooms, grain silos, tank farms; what do they all have in common? Each and every one of these is a potential bomb waiting to go off. Under certain conditions and with the right combination of circumstances, the possibility of a catastrophic explosion occurring becomes a near certainty. [...]
