Magnalight.com Adds Explosion Proof Fluorescent Lighting for Paint Spray Booth Operators
Recent OSHA requirements mandate that explosion proof lighting be used in environments exposed to flammable vapors, and Magnalight.com has introduced new UL safety rated lights to meet those needs.
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 5, 2008 -- Magnalight.com announced the addition of several new products to its line of explosion proof fluorescent lighting, typically used in paint spray booths, manufacturing plants, oil rigs and other petrochemical industry applications. OSHA mandates that environments that are exposed to flammable vapors and dusts must use UL safety rated, explosion proof lighting. UL divides these environments by Class and Division. Class 1 Division 1 lights are ideal for environments that are constantly saturated with explosion proof petrochemical vapors, while Class II Division 1 lights are ideal for environments laden with combustible dusts, like sugar or grain dust. By definition, Division 1 rated explosion proof lighting is suitable for Division II environments, where combustible vapors and dusts are sometimes present in the air. Typically, large companies will have safety people on staff that will specify the appropriate explosion proof safety rating for the plant. Smaller operations, like automotive paint spray booths and furniture manufacturer spray booths, rely on local codes and OSHA specifications for guidance. Larson Electronics' line of explosion proof lighting includes fluorescent fixtures that are UL rated at Class 1 Division 1 and Class II Division I.
Designed and built in Texas, Magnalight.com's new intrinsically safe explosion proof lighting products expand the options for customers in both size and application. "The EPL-48-2L is a popular 4 foot long fixture," said Rob Bresnahan of Magnalight.com. "However, some customers are looking for a smaller fixture, so we introduced the EPL-24-2L for smaller paint spray booths, etc. We also added the EPL-48-4L for customers who need greater lumen output. At 16,000 lumens, this 4 foot, 4 lamp fixture doubles the output of the EPL-48-2L. We typically use high output lamps, generally doubling the lumen output for the same money customers might spend elsewhere on competitive fixtures. We finally added a wheeled cart based explosion proof lighting fixture, the EPLC-48-4L, for customers who want a mobile fluorescent fixture that they position in larger paint booths. Aerospace firms, with large paint spray booths, have been asking us for this and we started shipping a 4 foot, 4 lamp explosion proof fluorescent fixture on a rolling cart last week."
Rob continued, "One of the benefits of being here in Texas is that we have a lot of component supplier support and flexible labor pools, so we can usually ship out customer orders within a week, and many times we can ship within a day. The Magnalight explosion proof lights are UL and marine rated, so they can be used in wet environments that require UL rated explosion proof lighting, including shipyards and manufacturing plants, where wash downs are necessary. Our explosion proof fluorescent lighting fixtures are used in waste treatment plants, oil rigs, solvent cleaning areas, fuel depots and whole host of military base applications. Combined with our handheld, explosion proof fluorescent lights, we offer a complete solution for general area lighting and parts inspection in hazardous locations."
